How to find your purpose and calling

Purpose. We long for it. For our lives to have meaning. To be a part of something bigger than ourselves.

There is a grander vision somewhere on planet earth with your name on it.

And when you find it,

and when you pursue it,

there will come a day when you will get up in the morning and say:

“I was born to do this.”

Imagine if you woke up every day saying that? How would your life change? How would you feel? What could you accomplish?

We believe that finding your calling isn’t just a pipe dream, reserved for a select few. We believe every single person has a purpose—something that they were made to do, that fulfills them as they use their gifts to help others.

We dream about a day where people wake up, excited about what they’re doing, where it’s not a burden, but a life giving opportunity to impact others in a way unique to them.

Imagine how our communities would change as people step out of a mundane, mediocre existence and into one where they’re excited, passionate, and thriving.

Imagine how your life would change if this was true about you.

So.

What’s that thing that you’ve been avoiding?

That thing you get excited about in the core of your being—even if it’s scary.

Even if you’re worried people wouldn’t understand?

Say it out loud.

(Or write it down if you’re the introverted type.)

What if you could live every single day, doing that?

How would you feel? How would your life change?

Now the question: What’s one step you need to take toward that?

I’m sure your brain is going into hyper-drive, thinking up a million excuses for why it won’t work, how it will go wrong, or why people won’t like it.

Stop.

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. We have these dreams and passions. Things that we keep to ourselves out of fear. We stop ourselves before we ever get started because we believe the lie that we can’t live a fulfilling life.

But here’s the deal: you can.

You can take one step today, to overcome your fear and do just one simple thing that gets you closer to your purpose.

Maybe it’s writing something that you later want to publish—just one article.

Maybe it’s creating something with your hands that you want to sell.

Or perhaps it’s writing that first line of code for an app idea you keep thinking about but putting off.

Maybe it’s looking up how to volunteer with a nonprofit. Or start your own business. Or ditch that career you loathe with all of your heart to start something completely new.

Whatever it is, you’ll never get there if you keep doing the same old things, worried about the what ifs.

All you have to do is take one, simple step towards it, and see how that feels.

Did it wake something up inside of you?

No?

Great—you’ve got some clarity about what you don’t want to do.

But.

What if it inspired something? Brought something that was once dormant back to life?

What then?

All you have to do is take one more step. Then you take another.

You can ditch the worries that you have to have it all together—a 5 year plan, blah, blah, blah. Just take one, simple step.

Before you know it, you’ll be on a journey to a destination that once seemed a million miles away. But you’re half way there.

Excited.

Passionate.

Purposed.

Heading toward your calling.

And that my friend, is half the battle.

I believe in you. You can live a life that is fulfilled. A life of passion & purpose. A life that matters.

All you have to do is take that first step.
